Pubs, Restaurants & Licensed Premises

I was horrified recently, when I saw that a “respected” local firm of surveyors had recently valued a pub on the basis of a value per square foot.

“WRONG!”

The RICS valuation standards require that public houses are valued on the basis of turnover and profitability. This is also applicable when valuing public houses and guest houses as well as hotels for Rates.

I have been privileged to have been heavily involved with the licensed trade since 1988, and I have also worked as a partner in or a director of companies owning pubs, hotels and restaurants. This operational experience has given me a unique insight into how such businesses work. I can give advice on rents, rates, inventory values and also general business management. All too often have I seen those little slip ups that cost an outlet money, and on more than many occasions have I seen little ideas that I can and have passed onto operators to help improve their bottom line.

I work extensively with solicitors, accountants and other professionals in the licensed property field, and invite you to discuss any issue you may have with me. If I do not know the answer, I probably know somebody who does, although I reckon in most cases I already do know that answer!
